Introduction
In my parish, I am in charge of Bible study. We usually use the "Six Weeks with the Bible" Series by Loyola Press because they are very easy to digest for people and very good to get through in a busy College Student's life.
The difficulty with this series is that they tend to shy away from the purely Catholic Books of the Bible. I wanted to do a Bible study on Tobit, for instance. I looked all around and no one had any materials that would just focus on Tobit. So I made my own and distributed it to my students. They were thrilled. We never had so many people participating in Bible Study.
So, I'm branching out again, this time with the two canonical books of the Maccabees. It is my intention to post them here so that students can see them, print them off, and utilize them. You are all welcome to walk with us on this journey that will begin sometime in August of 2008. Each lesson is intended to be reflected on for one week. Feel free to put comments on the bottom of the blog, especially if you are a Biblical scholar and can help us make things clearer that I cannot.
Let us especially pray for the intercession of St. Jerome in this process whose love of scripture is virtually unparalleled.
